The Borderline700 Roubaix edition begins and ends in the historic city of Gouda, the home base of the race.

On Friday morning the riders roll out from Gouda for a fixed +700 km journey to the legendary Velodrome of Roubaix at the French border and back again.

The finish line closes 60 hours later on Sunday evening. Cross it in time to collect your final stamp, a refreshing finisher’s beer, and a special souvenir to mark your achievement.

Didn’t make the cut-off? Your time will still be recorded and you are always encouraged to finish your ride—it just won’t count as an official finish for the classification.

The Turnaround Point: Roubaix Velodrome

Halfway through the adventure, the ultimate milestone awaits. Checkpoint 2 is not just a place to stamp your card—it is a journey straight into the holy ground of cycling history.

At the 350km mark, riders arrive at the legendary Velodrome of Roubaix. Here, you will experience the exact same final lap on the track where cycling’s greatest legends were made.

Before turning back toward Gouda, you get to wash off the dust and sweat in the mythic concrete Paris-Roubaix showers. Riders are even permitted to catch some well-deserved sleep inside the historic building. The Van Rysel Café will serve as your sanctuary, offering fresh coffee, hot food, and a welcoming atmosphere to refuel your body and mind before tackling the way back.

The Route

From Gouda to Roubaix and back, the Borderline700 follows a fixed 700km route packed with challenge and adventure. Along the way, riders must collect stamps at three staffed checkpoints to stay in classification.

The journey starts among the historic windmills, dikes, and scenic polders of the Netherlands, before taking you south to tackle the iconic climbs of the Flemish Ardennes.

From there, you ride straight onto the holy ground of cycling history. Checkpoint 2 brings you into the heart of the legendary Velodrome of Roubaix, where you will ride the same historic final lap as cycling's greatest titans. Before heading back, you get to wash off the dust and sweat in the mythic concrete Paris-Roubaix showers—you're even allowed to sleep inside.

The return leg tests your remaining strength as you conquer the rolling hills of Heuvelland and battle your way back through the windswept islands and plains of Zeeland, heading home to the finish line in Gouda.

Every kilometer tests body and mind. Whether you race for time or ride for the adventure, this is an experience that will stay with you forever.

What are the Borderline700 Events?

The Borderline700 events are the perfect way to start your ultracycling journey!
Long enough to be a real challenge, yet still achievable within one adventurous weekend.

Whether you’re a first-time bikepacker eager to discover what you can do, an experienced racer looking for a solid test before the season, or just an adventurer with a bike ready for a new challenge, the Borderline700 has room for all.

You ride fully self-supported, meaning no outside assistance, no team cars, no support crews, and no pre-arranged help along the way. You rely entirely on your own planning, skills, and determination.

You follow a fixed route of approximately 700 kilometers, including mandatory checkpoints along the way. Every rider receives the official GPX files and carries a GPS tracker, so friends and family can follow the race live from home.

You can enter in the:

SOLO category: Riding your own adventure.
PAIR category: Sharing the challenge side by side with a teammate.
